Man of Steel: Australian debutants dominate five-man shortlist

Three Australians in their first season in Super League Have Been on the five-strong shortlist for the Steve Prescott Man of Steel.

Blake Austin (Warrington), Lachlan Coote (St Helens) and Jackson Hastings (Salford) are all in line for the very prestigious individual award in Super League, along with Castleford prop Liam Watts along with Wigan stand-off George Williams.
Hastings and Austin were tied to the lead, when voting went after around 22 and because then Austin has performed only twice as a result of trauma.
Selection panel chairman Ellery Hanley, the only player to win three Man of Steel awards, explained :”The panelists are lucky to have witnessed firsthand some unique performances this season.
“The five guys in contention are pivotal to their team’s success and therefore they deserve recognition for exceptional seasons but just one person can win.”
The winner will be announced at an awards at the Lowry Theatre on October 6.
Even the Telegraph Woman of Steel will also be verified at the event with Kelsey Gentles (Castleford), Courtney Hill (Leeds) and Emily Rudge (St Helnes) the players nominated.
