Mason Greenwood can be a world beater for Manchester United

Mason Greenwood is in the England U21 squad but could he soon be a regular in the Manchester United? That’s the view of both former and team-mates trainers who speak of a talent who is capable of making it to the surface, writes Adam Bate.
Marcus Rashford calls him terrifying. Luke Shaw calls him unbelievable. Players praise his maturity and his attitude. Supporters liken him to Robin van Persie. There is a space that is opened to get a new favorite to emerge, as the flops leave Manchester United and adolescent Mason Greenwood fits the profile perfectly.
The academy graduate to signify United is somewhat special. There were glimpses of this in his brief cameo in Southampton. Greenwood forced a good save from Angus Gunn after embracing a few of his stepovers and could have won a punishment had the noodle seen the accidental kick he obtained from Stuart Armstrong on.
A place is unlikely to be far away for a participant who scored over a goal a game for the U18 and U23 sides of United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already trusted Greenwood off the bench that unforgettable March night at Paris and given him his full Premier League debut on the final day of last season when he described him as the team’s”best player by a mile”.
However, it was that Greenwood really convinced Solskjaer he was prepared. A target against Leeds consistently helps but there was greater than that. There was time he twisted and turned into out into the Perth Glory defence inside. Even though his drag-back in that match made a fool out of the Milan Skriniar there was his goal from Inter.
There is a particular irony that the team that has obtained on Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez was impressed by by Greenwood. They are United’s last. Just 17, Greenwood is your long run. Maybe even the present. That’s the way it is seen by Solskjaer. “Mason’s pathway would have been much harder when we had another ahead ,” he explained recently.
It seems sure that Greenwood may get his chance. The big issue today is when he gets it just how good he can become. What sets him apart from the rest and where exactly will he fit to the United team? Neil Dewsnip has been Greenwood’s trainer with all the England U18 team this past year and that he sees him as a person with the mentality and ability to be successful.
“He is highly encouraged to be the best that he can possibly be which is almost always a large power in a young participant,” Dewsnip tells Sky Sports.
“In the England U18 group he played an out-and-out centre-forward right down the center and did fairly well in that role but we also used him in broad areas also, especially on the ideal side of the field where he could cut in on his left foot and belt it quite well.
“He’s definitely got an eye for goal, so I’d agree with his manager that he can evaluate various goals. He is quick, direct and can put in behind defences. He’s also smart enough to unite with his team-mates. So he’s got an interesting package developing.”
When there is not any club like United, but will he be in a position to put that package together in a club like United? Can a player who needed to go after playing his role because Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain deal with the pressure of needing to provide at the greatest club in the world? Will he be able to manage that?
“I believe he could,” adds Dewsnip. “Front players tend to bring that with them. They love to score goals. They are excited about that. I don’t believe Old Trafford will fazes him. I believe it will be relished by him. The audience has started to develop an awareness about him. It remains to be seen if he can send but I don’t believe he will be it.”
Talking to one of the colleagues, it appears Greenwood has no motive. In which the walls are adorned by photos of graduates, Luke Shaw admits as Greenwood’s name is cited. The left-back has confronted him . He understands what is currently awaiting Premier League defences.
“He is a really fantastic player, an unbelievable talent and it’s crazy to think that he is just 17,” Shaw tells Sky Sports. “There’s much more to come from him but there’s so much he is doing at this time. He’s currently impressing with and every time that he trains he wants to understand. Ole has enormous religion in him and so do the rest of us”
The two Rashford and Lingard have called Greenwood and there is a calmness to his match. He is viewed by both as a finisher – the most thing being that he can do it with both feettaking penalties along with his right foot that was weaker. He played in a deeper role in his younger days but had been moved forward because of his finishing capability.
More than a poacher, he is with pace that is great – his sister is on an athletic scholarship at Manchester Metropolitan University. Greenwood has similar gifts, blessed with speed in addition to power and ability. As a teenager, he’s got the upper body strength to hold off his mark and change the play by hitting sweeping passes.
Manchester United prefer to keep a lid on those things as best they can, limiting his press actions. However, the secret is out. The United supporters know it and his United team-mates know it . “We know what he is going to be bringing to the group very soon,” adds Shaw. “He just has to keep his head down and work hard and also his ability will prosper.
“He could be among the best on earth.”
It’s high praise and some solace for United even as their most important rivals are still outperform them. The urge over the last six seasons is to spend their way back to the top but there is a recognition , even for a part of their tools, this can be impossible. There needs to be a plan. They will have to construct. And it will take time.
They need to rely upon an academy grad or two, just as they have. Scott McTominay proceeds to develop, embodying the spirit of hard work which each supporter wishes to determine from their players. However, Greenwood has the ability to offer you that and more. He’s a participant with this bit of fantasy to his match. A player who can make United believe .
“This group has energy, it has got youth,” explained Gary Neville to some recent appearance on Monday Night Football. “I enjoy it. It’s not slow, it’s not methodical, it’s not boring. With some additions that were fantastic, they’ve got a great prospect of doing something if it develops. It’s not going to occur overnight but I am happier with that which United are”
When Greenwood gets a run at the team, the Manchester United fans will probably be more happy. They might not have to wait.
